Power supply transformer 120 Vac to 13.8 vdc with 0.9A?
I saw that the power supply primary winding has a capcitor parellel with the winding. What is the purpose of that capcitor?
probably the transformer is a regulating ferroresonant type transformer, and the cap sets a resonant point. It partially regulates the AC voltage so that the supply doesn't have as heavy a thermal load.
