Is there ANY evidence that shifts in Earth's magnetic poles can affect weather or climate?

I see this concept going around in right-wing conspiracy circles (e.g. Alex Jones) and I'm wondering if it's just another diversion to ignore man-made climate change? I can't find any scientific corroboration for it. The magnetosphere and solar wind interact far outside atmospheric altitudes where weather occurs.

I should have phrased that as "...affect weather or climate in a significant way," like blaming it for the recent Australian Yasi cyclone and that sort of thing.
Ottawa Mike, that's the logical fallacy of turning the tables. It's not critical thinking. Try again.
Trinity, posting a link from an Alex Jones site is kind of lame, considering he's the one putting out conspiracy theories in the first place. Kind of like using the Bible to prove that the Bible is true.

Makes a good plot for hollywood, thats about it. If we were actually to lose our magnetic protection, then we'd be in trouble.
