Outlet box for switch has no neutral wires?

Outlet box for switch has no neutral wires?

I'm going to replace this dimmer switch with a single-pole light switch.

I cut the power and took the screws off of the dimmer switch.

See:

Shouldn't the switch be connected to 2 black wires instead of 1 black and 1 white wire?

I don't see 2 neutral wires tied together with a twist end cap. Is this bad?

Should I just connect the white, black, and ground to the standard light switch, and it will work?

remove the tape which is holding the dimmer switch wires to the romex wires(those were supposed to be wire nuts) that's totally against code or good practice, it makes for a loose connecting. on the single pole switch you should have 2 screws, just put one white on one screw and the black on the other. make sure to hook that bare copper wire to the ground screw on the switch, and make sure the other switch is grounded also.

wrap black tape around the white wire to identify it as a switch leg.

a single pole switch just breaks the hot line going to the light, the neutral is connected at the light fixture.
