Receptacles Outlets
I tried to replace an electrical outlet receptacle but I can't flip the breaker back without blowing fuse?
I attached the wires to the new receptacle exactly the same way as they were connected to the old, but when I try to flip the breaker back it won't go back....I've done other receptacles in my bedrooms etc, but all of a sudden the ones on my kitchen counter don't work. what gives??

With Clover's answer, your outlet has 2 different circuits running into it...one fed by the red wire & the other fed by the black wire.
By breaking the tab between the sockets, you isolated each circuit. While the tab was in place, the separate circuits were shorting each other out.
The idea behind wiring this way was to help prevent circuit overload by plugging too many appliances into one circuit.
