what would make taking off wall paper boarder easier? or what would be the best way going about doing it?
I moved in this house about 3 years ago and want to know since i don't know the length in time the wall paper boarder has been on the wall what would be the easiest way to remove it with out alot of hassel and make the project faster. Im going to be painting the wall after i get this stuff off.

You'll need the following items to remove the wallpaper border:
1. Bucket hot water
2. Fabric softener
3. Sponge
4. Tiger Claw (or bear claw... I forget the name but it's a tool sold at home centers that you roll over the wallpaper and it pokes little holes into the wallpaper which allows the water/softener solution to penetrate easier)
5. 4" or 6" spackling knife
Steps to remove wallpaper border:
1. Mix a half cup or so of fabric softener into bucket (gallon) of hot water.
2. Dip your sponge into the solution and squeeze some of the water out so that it's wet but not crazy dripping wet.
3. Test Area: Pick an area of wallpaper border so you can do a test run. Apply the solution to that area (about 2 foot strip) with the sponge and allow it to sit for 20-30 mins. Soak it pretty good.
4. Go back with your spackly knife and work the edge of the knife under the border carefully. If you find the edge is lifting easily, continue working the knife with short strokes. If the border comes off with ease, you found your process to remove the rest.
** If the border is still sticking and knife is not removing it, apply more hot water solution to that area, wait 20mins and try again.
**If that doesn't work, take your Tiger claw and gently roll it over the wallpaper border (if you roll too hard you will make small holes in the drywall where the border was and it will not paint over well... you'll have to use your spackle knife and spackle to cover the holes and sand before painting to fix). Then apply water solution with sponge to that area and let sit for 20 mins. Then remove with spackle knife.
5. Once the border is removed, use a sponge and hot water (only) to rub and clean the area where the border once resided. You should be ready to paint the wall surface.
** If you find that glue remains in some areas, just reapply the water/softener solution again to those areas and scrape if off with spackle knife.
