Will a AA battery charge faster in series or parallel?
I have eight mini solar panels that I'm hooking up to the battery. Its a small kit. Do you think the battery can charge faster in series or parallel?
Each solar panel will deliver only its own rated current, so putting them in parallel will achieve a more rapid charge. You want to be careful not to exceed the appropriate charging rate for your particular AA cell, otherwise it will get hot and suffer damage. If you arrange that the charging rate to be only 1/10 of the nominal mAh rating marked on the cell, you can leave the cell connected to the panel. Don't forget to use a diode to prevent reverse current though the solar panels when the sun stops shining.
