Christian dreams?
Dreams mean little to me. If I dream something bad, I'll wake up and think to myself "thank goodness it was ONLY a dream". If I dream something good I'll wake up and think "darn, it was ONLY a dream". And I never act on my dreams. For example if I dream that I won a million dollars in a slot machine, I will not head to Atlantic City the next day, even if it were a vivid dream.
It is written that Joseph had a dream in which an angel told him that Mary's pregnancy was the result of a conception by the holy ghost. That is how Joseph knew. What reasons do rational people have today for believing that there was no human sperm involved in Mary's conception? And as a secondary question, why would the angel have to appear in one of Joseph's dreams - why not a real angel in real life during the day when Joseph was awake and other people were around to see the angel?
The immaculate conception was probably a way to explain off an affair that wasn't supposed to be happening or just the authors of the books trying to make jesus out to be more than just a philosopher (which is probably more likely since i doubt the apostles knew jesus as a kid)
