Can someone tell me what a laptop LCD Inverter do?
I have pink color in my laptops screen where it's supposed to be white.I'm trying to figure out if this can be caused by a bad screen or a bad inverter before I order a wrong item.The picture is fine when I connect the laptop to external monitor.Thank you.

Laptop inverter provides power to the backlight.
Normally if your screen lights up then the inverter is working.
If your are considering replacing the screen then taking the screen apart is going to happen anyway - so take it apart and check the video cable from the back of the screen to the motherboard. Disconnect/reconnect.
You could also reset the color balance on the screen. If you have either NVidia or ATi or Intex Express graphics chip then there will be a control panel application which will include color tuning options.
It might just require the red brightness or gamma to be turned down - or the green brightness or gamma to be turned up.
