1,3,6 (only takes seconds of MY time to plug and unplug it. It takes more of MY time to go to a gas station ) ,4,3,1,4,3, electric, The fuel is cheaper (when considering motor efficiency) and not dependent upon foreign sources through limited handlers, undecided, global warming is complex subject that would require a coordinated will of the population, in a change in thinking and habit, something people don't have a history of doing well. For someone who says that he would not use an electric vehicle unless fuel bills were $50, a recent analysis suggests he is well on his way. When taking vehicle efficiency into consideration gasoline at a pump price of $2.6 per gallon is equal to a cost of around $17.82 per gallon compared to an electric cost of around $3.90. Gasoline is even higher now. Highway taxes at an average of 45.9 cents per gallon are insignificant when compared to vehicle efficiency. The fuel for an electric vehicle is dependent upon the source. Using grid electricity the "fuel" for an electric vehicle is primarily domestic and no less efficient that the production of petrochemicals. As the grid "cleans up" so the vehicle becomes "cleaner." If there is a photovoltaic array at home then it is a solar car. This is a trick that the vehicle powered by an ICE can't do.

A sometimes series hybrid using a genset trailer would give an all electric vehicle range equal or better than today's vehicles using existing technology. For the balance, 80% of the commuters who travel less than 30 miles a day would be fine.

A hybrid vehicle is a compromise that delays an electric future out of an inability to let go of the old and embrace the new. One problem with an ICE is its complexity. The hybrid makes this situation worse and carries an engine around when it is not needed.
