Could a judge suspend my license for failing to yield on a green light at a left turn?

You know the statistic that says "1 in 4 teenagers will get into a car accident during their first 12 months of driving"? I'm a living example of this statistic.
A mere five days after receiving my license, I was driving after dark and came to a four-way intersection. I was in a left-turn-only lane, and saw the green light. It turned yellow as I was sticking out into the intersection. I glanced, saw no one coming, and made the turn. Seemingly out of nowhere, a car in the oncoming lane, which also had a yellow light, struck my passenger side. In the DMV Rules of the Road Handbook, it specifically states that any driver under the age of 18 who is found guilty of a demerit-point violation (such as failure to yield, in this case), will simply have to attend a driver improvement clinic. However, do you think a judge could suspend my license regardless, if he thought it would be beneficial?

Ok first just breath...I don't know your state or your rules so I can't tell you what is going to happen. But I can tell you that something similar happened to me when I first got my license except that it was not a yellow light, it was still green...long story short, I went and got hit on the passenger door and do to the rain the police could not measure the tracks to determine how fast the guy was going (i know he was speeding). I ended up getting a point or something like that on my driving record and my insurance rates went up...that was it.

The point of my story is that you are not the only new driver that has problems. Don't listen to the people who are being mean to you on here. Being in an accident is a horrible experience. As long as you were being careful while driving...it was an accident, the word is used for a reason, you didn't do it on purpose. Most likely after this you will be an even more careful driver. I hope so. Just remember to keep your eyes on the road when driving and pay attention to what is going on around you.

Best of luck. Keep you head up, don't let mean comments get you down...when you drive again just remember to be careful and stay alert. Even though you were not on the cellphone like someone was accusing you of being it is a good idea to not talk on the cell phone while driving. Good Luck!
