Green Living Environment

what kind of health risks are associated with living in an environment with mould growing on the walls?

my mum's living room and bedroom in rented accommodation are probably 40% covered with a green/grey mould. it's a basement flat with granite walls so is prone damp. the landlord says she will sort it eventually but doesn't seem too concerned. my mum is 63 and has asthma. how badly could this be affecting her health?

Living in a mould infested environment is very bad for your health. It can cause respiratory problems and can trigger allergic responses, particularly in asthmatics, so your mum's at risk.

Call your local Council's Environmental Health department and ask for advice on how you can get the landlord to fix the problem. In the meantime, could your mum perhaps stay with you until the problem is fixed?

Its very wrong and irresponsible of her Landlord not to be taking the problem seriously.
