What resources are available for finding a contstruction job?
I want to change careers. I am a professional musician and don't want to do it anymore. I want to work in construction, but I want something more like an apprenticeship - I want to learn so that I can someday start my own "green" contracting business. Any suggestions? BTW, I live in Minneapolis, and if you know of any opportunities that are specific to Minneapolis that would be even better.
I do not know about Minneapolis,but there should unions there for whatever kind of construction you want to get into. Find the union hall and join. You will not be sorry as the wages will be good and you will have benefits. Also many of the fly by night construction will cheat you out of your wages etc.etc. The union will help you to go to work. Just starting like you are you should be able to go to work pretty quick as you know you will be getting the dirtiest jobs until you prove yourself, and it's hard to find good people that want to work.
