Is my daughter ready for a guinea pig?
My daughter is:
-12
-overall responsible
-is an only child so she could use a guinea buddy 
-she does have a lot of lessons (5 lessons a week, 1-2 hours per lesson)
-she is in grade 7 and going to high school next year
My house is:
-a duplex
-2200 square feet
-has a pretty big yard
do you think my daughter qualifies for a piggie owner?
I would say yes. I got my first guinea pig when i was twelve in sixth grade and it was my first pet that was all mine and i had all of the responsibility. I used all of my birthday money on him and his "accessories". i don't regret it at all. After a week he let me hold him and played with me. He now recognizes my voice. Guinea pigs are a lot of fun but a lot of responsibility-more than people think. It's really up to you, not me though.
