Is it really "Just money"?
My husband and I fight over money every single day. I'm the frugal one, I worry about money all the time because I know if you don't have money, you can't live a comfortable life.
My husband always tells me "it's just money"
He sees it as "the money's right here, I'm buying this"
He doesn't care because it's "just money". And he's right in a way, things always seem to figure itself out. But I love having money there so we can enjoy our young lives! (20 & 28)
Plus our 6 month old always needs things. Diapers, outfits, cheap toys etc.
Is it really "just money"?
No, it's not just money. Especially if you don't have enough. If you are receiving TANF, I would assume money is extremely tight in your household, and frivolous spending, on credit cards, can dig you a hole that's difficult to get out of.
I would suggest you cancel your credit card. He's using your card to make purchases, and when the company comes looking for their money, you are going to be the one that's responsible. Do not let him have access to anything that could affect your credit rating. Then, work out a reasonable budget, keeping in mind that caring for your child comes first. Stick to that budget. Everyone needs to have a little money saved up for emergencies - and this is doubly important in families with limited income. If he can't stick to a budget, and can't be responsible about money, it's unlikely your relationship will last. Many former couples point to money problems as being the primary reason they broke up.
