Believers in Jesus' way, has your mega Prosperity Church held a "Poverty" Ball yet? As we know, Jesus lived?

a very frugal life, recommending that we sell all and give to the poor. Therefore I am suggesting that in keeping with His teachings, we Christians hold a Poverty Ball, inviting the lame, the halt, and the blind of our community ( or bringing some in) to join in the festivities and at the end be awarded such excess material goods of ours as laptops, Wi fi's, Blackberries, latte machines, etc, Does this strike you as a loving way to implement the Lord's teachings into our lives and the lives of the needy? Wives of course could donate much of their jewelry, and teen boys their skate boards, Ski-doo's, etc. Young ladies will gratefully hand over their cell phones, I'm sure. Tell me what you think of this? I prayerfully request your answers.

I understand where you are coming from. Myself, we have a small
country church, and barely can pay our bills, because we give
to those in need of medicine, heat, groceries, our foreign missionaries,
and those who lose their jobs, or have medical bills.
I don't see how a church can justify having a huge bank account,
with so many suffering and in need around. Turning a blind eye maybe.
Jesus spent most of His time with the poor and those that had
nothing materially to offer Him, other than maybe a room to take a
rest in. The disciples were all poor also, Luke was a doctor, but
certainly not rich. Maybe that should comfort us, the poor, that
Jesus spent His time with us, when He was here. May God bless you
richly, and try not to be too hard on the Megachurches, maybe
God will open their eyes.
