i am selling a solar panel briefcase but people keep asking what watts it is .it 17.5 volts?
You need to know the current it puts out. Nominal, not peak. one can estimate a value of 2/3 peak to be close enough.
Once you know the nominal current, multiply that by your nominal voltage, which would be 12 volts based on your 17.5 volt. So if your nominal current were 1 amp, the briefcase would be rated at 12.5 Watts.
Volts is only potential energy. Watts determines how much work can be done at that potential.
